New Delhi- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurate Asia’s largest solar power plant in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district, which he said will reduce emission equivalent to approximately 15 lakh tonne of carbon dioxide every year. It is one of the largest single-site solar power plants in India and the world developed on 1,590 hectares of land in Gurh tehsil of Rewa district. The project will have three units of 250 MW each.

The Prime Minister dedicated the 750-megawatt ultra mega solar power plant, to the nation through video conferencing.

“Today, Rewa has really created history. This place has been identified with mother Narmada and white tiger. Now the name of Asia’s largest solar power project has also been attached to it,” the Prime Minister said.

“Solar energy is going to be a major medium of energy needs not only today but in the 21st century. Because solar energy is sure, pure and secure,” the Prime Minister said.

“For an Aatma Nirbhar Bharat we need to become self-dependent in the field of energy for which renewable energy is the solution. We are ensuring that clean energy reaches to every section of society and benefits everyone,” he said.

PM Modi said the world now wonders how India is producing cheap renewable energy. India is now the biggest attraction and hope for the modern world. One-World, One-Sun & One-Grid is the idea that will fulfill the need of mankind everywhere.
